Important Note on KDSS Lean

KDSS drop kits — ours or any other manufacturer’s — are not designed to fix or prevent KDSS lean.

KDSS lean is caused by an imbalance in the KDSS hydraulic system, not by sway bar position, links, or suspension geometry.

If you believe a drop kit corrects KDSS lean, you’ve likely been misinformed.

Please reach out to us directly
for accurate guidance instead of relying on forum speculation.

What It Is

An upgraded KDSS rear drop solution that replaces the OEM passenger-side fixed KDSS link with a longer, stronger billet 7075 aluminum link, while retaining a spacer on the driver-side KDSS strut.

This kit accomplishes the same goal as rear KDSS drop spacers, but does it in a stronger, safer, and more trail-resilient way.

Why This Exists

With modern suspension setups, KDSS trucks are being wheeled harder than ever.

In certain off-road scenarios—especially dropping off ledges or landing on rocks—the OEM passenger-side fixed KDSS link can take a direct hit. When that happens:

  • The factory link can bend

  • The sway bar becomes misaligned

  • That misalignment can then stress or damage the KDSS shock shaft

Once the system is out of alignment, problems compound quickly.

This upgraded billet link eliminates that weak point.

What It Does

  • Replaces the weak OEM fixed passenger-side KDSS link

  • Maintains correct sway bar position under full droop

  • Prevents sway bar misalignment that can damage the KDSS strut

  • Allows full suspension droop when running extended-travel rear shocks

  • Repositions the system while keeping the KDSS strut piston in its OEM operating range

  • Provides clearance to run up to a 285/70/17 spare tire in the factory location

OEM Failure Example (See Photos Below)

The OEM fixed link is a known weak point.

Hard trail impacts can bend the link, which forces the sway bar out of position. Once that happens, the KDSS shock can be pushed into a bad angle and suffer internal or shaft damage.

This billet link removes that failure point entirely.

Design & Materials

  • CNC-machined from 7075 aircraft-grade billet aluminum

  • Significantly stronger than OEM steel

  • Designed to withstand direct impacts without bending

  • Anodized black finish (only color available at this time)

  • Overbuilt for real off-road use, not just daily driving

The spacer itself does not need to be 7075—the spacer only repositions the strut.
The fixed link takes the load, which is why this upgrade matters.

What’s Included

  • (1) 7075 billet fixed link

  • Pre-installed ¾" Pro Bearing uniball with snap ring

  • (2) M10 × 1.25 × 60mm flange head bolts (clear zinc)

  • (2) M10 × 1.25 locking nuts

  • (2) Stainless steel high-misalignment spacers

  • (2) Washers (not used on all vehicles). If you have room because you have the round bushing and thinner smaller cap.   Run the washers with the locking nuts.   If you have an updated bushing and bottom cap ( thicker , typically 2018+ ) then no need for washers

Kit Options & Pricing

Choose the option that fits your current setup:

  • Rear KDSS Drop Spacers (Pair) – $180
The old school solution. Simple and effective.

  • Billet Fixed Link Only – $200
For customers who already have two rear drop spacers and want to upgrade the OEM fixed link.

  • Billet Fixed Link + Driver-Side Spacer – $250
The upgraded setup. Stronger, cleaner, and built for harder use.
Call it the Gucci option if you want — no judgment here.

Already Have Two Drop Spacers?

If you already own two rear KDSS drop spacers in good condition and are upgrading to the billet link:

📧 Email: Dom@DrKDSS.com

Include:

  • Photos of your spacers

  • Condition

  • Vehicle info

You may be eligible for a $40 credit toward the billet link.
Eligibility depends on condition.

Compatibility Notes

  • Works only with DRKDSS or Treaty Oak rear drop spacers

  • Spacer dimensions must match this system ( 2” spacer)

  • KDSS-equipped vehicles only

  • Not compatible with random or unknown spacer brands

Do You Need This Kit?

  • Running extended-travel rear shocks? Yes

  • Wheeling harder than stock? Yes

  • Want to run a 285/70/17 spare in the factory location? Yes

  • Mall crawler that never articulates? Probably not — and that’s okay.

Install Notes

  • Best installed with the vehicle on its own weight (tires on the ground)

  • You may place the rear axle on jack stands for additional working room

  • Use a hydraulic floor jack to support the sway bar at the center

Before starting:

  • If your vehicle is 2–3+ years old or you live in a high-salt area, soak the bolts with WD-40 or similar penetrating oil a few days before install
→ These bolts are known to seize and break if rushed

Basic Install Overview:

    1. Support the rear sway bar with a hydraulic floor jack

    2. Unbolt the driver-side KDSS strut bolts and passenger-side fixed link bolts

      • 14mm socket required

    3. If spacers are already installed, only remove the passenger-side bolts. Lower the sway bar to gain clearance.  If you don’t have spacer, you will lower the sway bar until you can get space between sway bar and kdss strut. KDSS strut will need to be fully extended to allow spacer to fit. Jack up the sway bar until busing makes contact with kdss strut  install the hardware for kdss strut side. Torque to 70lbs and use blue loctite.

    4. Remove the OEM fixed link & spacer ( if you have spacers already) and replace with the billet link

      • Torque top frame-side bolt to 90 ft-lbs (blue loctite is recommended)

    5. Jack the sway bar back into position ( strut will compress) until the bushing on passenger side contacts billet link and install hardware

      • Torque lower hardware to 70 ft-lbs

      • Locking nuts included — no Loctite required on the bolts facing up and down

    6. Add torque hash marks for quick visual inspection after use
